Rock, Paper, Scissors (Piedra, Papel o Tijera): the tie breaker sandal
When you grow up in Argentina, “piedra, papel o tijera” (rock, paper, scissors)
isn’t just a game—it’s a tiny court of cosmic justice. Who pays the bill? Who takes
the window seat? One… two… three… settle it. Our Rock, Paper, Scissors sandal
borrows that spirit: playful, decisive, and designed to end the “what do I wear?”
debate in a single throw.
Why the name fits
Look closely and you’ll see the references: bold shapes, layered textures, and a
little competition between soft fringe and polished hardware. The result is balance
—tough and tender, classic and edgy—so you can dress them up or down without
overthinking it. Like the game, they just work.
Lapidary-inspired details
Front and center is a series of glossy, cabochon-style embellishments set into
custom metalwork designed by Clara. While they aren’t traditional gemstones, the
smooth, domed finish and bezel-like settings take cues from lapidary craft—the
art of shaping and polishing stones—translated here into our own hand-cast
components. The effect is jewel-like without feeling precious, catching light in a
subtle, sophisticated way.
Surrounding the “stones” is fine leather fringe, sliced in narrow, even bands that
move when you walk—graphic in photos, fluid in real life. A chevron motif anchors
the center, echoed by tiny studs that add structure and shine.
The stacked-leather heel (small height, big difference)
We build the heel from layers of real leather, stacked and compressed, then
inked and polished. Beyond the beautiful profile, a stacked heel absorbs impact,
resists dents better than a painted block, and can be refinished by a cobbler
after seasons of wear. The low height keeps you stable; the square toe gives your
forefoot room to relax.
Handcrafted, start to finish
Rock, Paper, Scissors is made in small batches by artisans who cut, stitch, and
assemble each pair by hand. Panels are skived for smooth joins, edges are
burnished, and the straps are lined so they feel soft from the first wear. The
cabochon components are cast and set one by one; the fringe is cut with care so it
remains supple but never flimsy.
We source our leathers from partner tanneries we know and trust, selected for
responsible practices and consistency of finish. Because we build in limited runs,
we can choose hides for character—black that reads inky and deep, cognac that
glows—rather than chasing mass production.
Delicate look, durable build
Yes, the sandal reads refined. But beneath the beauty is a workhorse
construction:
Stitched (not just glued) uppers for longevity.
Stacked leather heel with a rubber top-lift for traction and quiet steps.
Adjustable slingback for a secure, customized fit.
Smooth lining and a softly cushioned insole for all-day comfort.
Wear them with a slip dress, wide-leg trousers, cut-off denim, or tailored shorts—
the silhouette is modern, the materials are timeless, and the embellishment brings
just enough “editorial” energy to lift the simplest outfit.
The verdict
Like its namesake game, Rock Paper Scissors solves problems quickly. When
the day calls for something a little special—but you still need comfort, stability,
and real durability—this sandal is the winning throw. Handcrafted, ethically
sourced, lapidary-inspired, and built to last: a delicate look with serious intent
